Wheelchair-Friendly Attractions in Salt Lake City
If you are wheelchair-bound, taking a vacation simply needs a little extra planning! Let’s take a look at the great places you could visit on your next trip to Salt Lake City, Utah.
In our business, we find that wheelchair and mobility scooter users are a resourceful bunch. In fact, they tend to make the best of every situation they find themselves in! And they have to as many places still don’t cater to people with mobility issues. As I’m sure you already know, that can present major problems to those people who rely on the power of wheels to get them around.
Happily, there are plenty of shops, museums, parks and resorts in Utah that have realized the importance of giving mobility-impaired guests the best vacation possible. They do that by providing plenty of mobility aids on their sites. This week, we wanted to take a look at what Salt Lake City has to offer wheelchair and mobility scooter users and we are starting with our favorite wheelchair-friendly museum:
The Natural History Museum of Utah
The Natural History Museum of Utah goes above and beyond for people with mobility issues. The museum has:
- designated parking bays for visitors with disabilities
- ADA-friendly mobility ramps throughout the site (both inside and out)
- elevators that ensure people with disabilities enjoy full access to the museum
- a stock of wheelchairs for visitor use
- a Guest Services Team that will do what they can to meet your needs
The Natural History Museum is a must-visit attraction if you are travelling to Salt Lake City, not least for the building itself, which mimics the awe-inspiring layered rock formations that can be found all over Utah. Add to that an amazing program for adults and children alike, and you have the makings of an incredibly memorable day or night at the museum! Next time, we’ll continue our trip around Utah and we hope that you’ll find some inspiration for your next day trip in this stunning state.
